“Conducting Procedural Actions in Human Trafficking Investigations”: Workshop at DSUIA

The workshop was organized for 3rd- and 4th-year students of the Faculty for Training Specialists in Pre-Trial Investigation of the National Police of Ukraine. The event also saw participation from Larisa Nalyvaiko, Assistant to the Rector on Gender Issues.

The Department of Criminal Procedure at DSUIA initiated the workshop to mark European Anti-Trafficking Day. Cadets Vadym Bolharenko, Vlada Smoliar, Roman Veklenko, and Viktoriia Kyrychenko, graduates of the Autumn School on Human Trafficking Investigations, organized the event. The school was held in September 2024 as part of a joint project by the OSCE Support Program for Ukraine, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, and the National Police of Ukraine.

The workshop opened with remarks by Serhii Hrynenko, Senior Project Manager for the Human Security Component of the OSCE Support Program for Ukraine, who introduced participants to OSCE’s main areas of activity and potential avenues for cooperation. Oleg Rykun, an expert from the Analytical Department of the Prosecutors’ Training Center of Ukraine, also joined the opening, sharing insights into procedural actions in human trafficking investigations and emphasizing the importance of interviewing victims.

The event was moderated by Professor Viktoriia Rohalska from the Department of Criminal Procedure and Prosecutor Aliona Salomatina from the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office.

Participants demonstrated their knowledge and practiced interview techniques using a structured case study. Cadets who excelled in their tasks received valuable gifts from the OSCE as recognition for their efforts.
