Cadets of Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs (DSUIA) attended an optional class on the topic “Specifics of Preventing and Qualifying Criminal Offenses Related to Russia’s Armed Aggression.”
The session was conducted by Valentyn LYUDVIK, Associate Professor of the Department of Criminal Law and Criminology, for cadets of the faculty training specialists for pre-trial investigation bodies of the National Police of Ukraine.
During the session, practical aspects of documenting and investigating war crimes were reviewed. The discussion covered mechanisms for collecting evidence of violations of international humanitarian law and emphasized the importance of proper procedural documentation for subsequent use in court proceedings. Particular attention was given to recent amendments to Ukraine’s criminal legislation, including the definition of war crimes and enhancements in the qualification of offenses committed during armed aggression.
These optional classes aim to improve the professional training of future police officers, providing them with a modern understanding of the challenges facing law enforcement agencies during martial law. The acquired knowledge will help young specialists adapt to the dynamic changes in legislation and practical aspects of combating war crimes, essential for the effective performance of their duties.
