Oksana successfully completed her training at the driving school of the Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs. She received her category “B” driver’s license from DSUIA Vice-Rector, Police Lieutenant Colonel Ihor KOVALIOV.
Before joining the driving school, Oksana had no prior driving experience. After completing her theoretical training in Pavlohrad, she learned about the DSUIA driving school for people with disabilities and decided to pursue her practical training there.
According to the graduate, she was impressed by the professionalism of the instructors who provided detailed explanations, offered support, and helped her overcome challenges. Practical driving sessions on the roads of Dnipro in comfortable vehicles with hand controls gave Oksana the confidence she needed to drive. She now plans to purchase her own vehicle and modify it to include hand controls, like the cars used at the DSUIA Driving School.
The driving school project for people with disabilities, initiated by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, is being implemented as part of the National Strategy for Creating a Barrier-Free Space under the “Without Barriers” initiative of Ukraine’s First Lady, Olena ZELENSKA. Its goal is to promote social adaptation, integrate people with disabilities into societal life, and provide equal opportunities to acquire driving skills.
