“Types of State Programs for Working with Offenders. Organizing Corrective Work with Perpetrators”: Training at DSUIA

The Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs hosted a training session for specialists from amalgamated territorial communities of Dnipropetrovsk region implementing programs for domestic violence offenders.

The event speakers included Associate Professor of the Department of Criminal Procedure, Candidate of Legal Sciences, Associate Professor, and Police Major Alina HARKUSHA, and Lecturer of the Department of Administrative Law and Procedure, Police Senior Lieutenant Kristina DEREVIANKO.

The training aimed to study programs designed to modify the behavior of individuals who commit domestic violence. Participants explored mechanisms to assist offenders in recognizing their violent actions, understanding the underlying causes and consequences, and preventing future incidents.

The discussions were joined by university representatives: Rector’s Assistant on Gender Issues, Doctor of Legal Sciences, Professor, and Honored Lawyer of Ukraine Larysa NALYVAIKO; Senior Lecturer of the Department of Psychology, Sociology, and Pedagogy, member of the Ukrainian Psychological Association, expert in combating domestic violence and mobbing, and practical psychologist Kateryna MITCHENKO; Associate Professor of the Department of Administrative Law and Procedure, Doctor of Philosophy in Law, Police Senior Lieutenant Karina PISOTSKA; and psychologist of the psychological support department Anzhelika MOROZ.

The online training attracted more than 160 participants, including representatives of amalgamated territorial communities, social service workers, community police officers, psychologists, and other professionals.

The event highlighted the specifics of state programs targeting offenders and the nuances of organizing corrective activities. Attendees actively engaged in discussions and deliberations on current issues.
