“Criminal Offenses Against Peace, Humanity, and International Order”: An Elective Course at DSUIA

A special lecture for students of the Faculty of Pre-Trial Investigation Specialists of the National Police of Ukraine was conducted by Vasyl BEREZNIAK, Head of the Department of Criminal Law and Criminology at Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs and Police Lieutenant Colonel.

During the session, Vasyl BEREZNIAK provided an in-depth exploration of the topic, classifying the criminal offenses under discussion and illustrating the legal consequences of their commission.

Cadets gained comprehensive knowledge about the concepts of aggression, war crimes, and crimes against humanity, as well as their place within the framework of international criminal law. The session included an analysis of historical examples of such crimes and current trends in addressing them.

Special emphasis was placed on the Ukrainian context. The students examined national legislation stipulating criminal liability for offenses against peace, humanity, and international order, alongside studying judicial practices in these cases.

The session also highlighted the significance of international cooperation in combating such crimes. Participants underscored the importance of collective efforts by states and international organizations in addressing these violations.

This lecture became a vital component in shaping modern legal thinking and professional competence among the students.
