An open lecture titled “Basic Cybersecurity for Civil Security Sector Personnel” was held at the Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs. The event was conducted by experts from the European Union Advisory Mission (EUAM) in cooperation with lecturers from DSUIA.
Participants of the event included attendees of the short-term advanced training program—investigators and inquiry officers of the National Police of Ukraine. The event was organized by the Department for Qualification Improvement and Specialization of the Institute of Postgraduate Education and Distance Learning.
Information technology expert of the EU Advisory Mission Dmytro Yehorov and Professor of the Department of Information Technologies, Candidate of Legal Sciences Eduard Ryzhkov, provided an in-depth overview of current cybersecurity threats. Law enforcement practitioners were introduced to the latest types of phishing attacks, including those using artificial intelligence, zero-day vulnerabilities, as well as other forms of cyberattacks that pose a threat to law enforcement personnel.
The lecturers focused on risk reduction strategies, methods of protecting personal and official data, and techniques for detecting potential threats. As part of the practical component of the lecture, participants were presented with real-life case studies demonstrating the effective application of basic cybersecurity knowledge.
During the discussion, certain topics sparked an active dialogue, allowing participants to exchange professional experiences. As a result of the lecture, participants not only deepened their understanding but also acquired effective tools to ensure reliable information protection amidst daily challenges.
