Cadets of Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs (DSUIA) competed with representatives of Odesa State University of Internal Affairs (OSUIA) in the interactive event “EUROLAW QUEST: A Linguistic-Legal Quest Across Europe.”
At the start of the quest, DSUIA First Vice-Rector Ihor Mahdalina addressed the participants, emphasizing that Ukraine is a European state by its essence, worldview, and the mentality of its people, and that today’s youth plays a key role in advancing Ukraine’s European development path.
The event was moderated by Iryna Tsarova, Head of the Language Training Department at DSUIA, Doctor of Philological Sciences and Professor; Olena Sytko, Head of the Language Training Department at OSUIA, Candidate of Philological Sciences and Associate Professor; and Yana Prenko, Head of the International Cooperation Department at OSUIA.
During the quest, cadet teams completed tasks related to law, languages, and European values across six virtual stations. Participants reinforced their knowledge of basic legal terms in English, identified European countries through cultural associations, and developed skills in legal analysis, logical thinking, and teamwork by analyzing short legal scenarios.
Summarizing the event, the organizers noted that participants learned to think like lawyers, translators, detectives, and analysts. The cadets’ active engagement demonstrated that Europe’s legal culture is vibrant, multifaceted, and engaging, with Ukraine as an integral part of it. Such events foster a European mindset and professional competencies among future law enforcement officers.
OSUIA Rector’s Gender Issues Advisor Liubov Berezovenko highlighted the significant importance of collaboration between higher education institutions in promoting European integration and cultivating a European way of thinking among students.
