NEWS, SimS (eng)

On September 24-25 in Bukovinian State Medical University (Chernivtsi) the final meeting of the participants of the KA2 ERASMUS+ project “Simulation Medicine and Scenario-based Learning for Pre-medical Aid” (SimS) took place.

With welcoming words to those present, the Rector of Bukovinian State Medical University Ihor Herush addressed, who noted the importance of the project for improving emergency care by optimizing training in the category “First on the Scene” using modern SBL/BL methodology. Foreign partners, representatives of the University of Santiago de Compostela Victor Arce and Jose Costa, who directly participated in the final conference, noted the high effectiveness of the project and thanked the Ukrainian partners for the cooperation.

Attention during the meeting was focused on the presentation of the results and impact of the project of Ukrainian higher education institutions — partners of the international consortium, as well as on determining further prospects for the development of the project. During the discussion, the participants expressed gratitude to all partners for fruitful cooperation, in particular to European colleagues — for the organization and support in mastering modern learning technologies and improving skills in the field of simulation medicine.

In particular, the associate professor of the Department of Tactical and Special Training of DSUIA, Candidate of Legal Sciences, Associate Professor, Police Major Stanislava Myroniuk presented a report and provided comments on the work performed and the results obtained from the implementation of the project at the Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs. She noted that the university’s work was assessed positively, all conditions of the project were fulfilled qualitatively, in full and within the specified deadlines.

Within the framework of the project, it was possible to significantly increase the level of training under the program “First on the Scene”. Courses on simulation medicine and scenario-based learning were conducted for students of various specialties, teachers, police officers and cadets, which contributed to the development of knowledge and practical skills. The trainings helped to increase the confidence of the participants and their interest in further learning.

Stanislava Myroniuk spoke about the stages of the project implementation at the Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs.

For the implementation of the project, modern equipment was used, an optional course “First on the Scene” based on scenario-oriented learning was developed for higher education seekers and police officers undergoing advanced training, using the OpenLabyrinth platform, which provided participants with free access to educational materials and video files. Thanks to this, higher education seekers have the opportunity to independently process the material online, and then check and consolidate knowledge during practical classes with teachers. Stanislava Myroniuk emphasized that participation in the project was primarily useful for the teachers of the Department of Tactical and Special Training — participants of the university’s project group.

During the meeting, the release of the electronic book Simulation Medicine and Scenario-based Learning for Emergency Care: A Guide for Educators and Trainers was announced. All participants of the project joined its creation — in the future it will become a useful resource in the educational process and training of specialists.
