Peculiarities of work of juvenile prevention units with children: binary lesson at DSUIA

The event was held within the framework of the All-Ukrainian campaign «16 Days Against Violence».

The lesson was organized by associate professor of the Department of Administrative Law and Process, Doctor of Philosophy in Law, senior police lieutenant Karyna Pisotska at the base of the training ground “Child-Friendly Crisis Room”.

Inspector of the Juvenile Prevention Department of the Preventive Activity Directorate of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, senior police lieutenant Daryna Dovhopola was invited to conduct the event.

Cadets became acquainted with the legal foundations of activity of juvenile prevention units and studied in detail the specifics of their work in real conditions. Daryna Dovhopola told about the algorithms of actions of police officers in cases of detecting domestic violence, cruel treatment of children, as well as in situations related to homelessness and offences of minors.

Special attention was paid to methods of establishing contact with a child who is in a state of stress or crisis, as well as rules for interviewing minors taking into account their psychological peculiarities and requirements of the concept of “child-friendly justice”. Cadets also practised a scenario of response to cases of bullying, in particular algorithms of actions.

The use of the training ground “Child-Friendly Crisis Room” allowed to bring the educational process as close as possible to real service situations.

Thanks to the binary lesson, future law enforcement officers deepened their knowledge and acquired the necessary skills for effective protection of the rights and interests of children in their future professional activity.
