DSUIA Athletics Championship: the strongest were determined

The championship was held on the occasion of the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace at the Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs.

The event was organized with the support of the Department of Special Physical Training of DSUIA with the aim of promoting physical culture and sports, improving skills, and increasing the level of physical fitness of students.

After the performance of the National Anthem of Ukraine and honoring the memory of the fallen with a minute of silence, the Vice-Rector of DSUIA, Police Colonel Ihor Kovaliov, addressed those present. He noted the importance of the institution’s sporting traditions and emphasized that regular sports activities are an essential component of training future police officers, as they contribute to the development of endurance, willpower, and strength of character.

The participants of the competition were teams from the faculties for training specialists for criminal police units and pre-trial investigation bodies of the National Police of Ukraine, the Educational and Scientific Institute of Law and Innovative Education, the Primary Professional Training Center “Police Academy,” and the Dnipro Lyceum of security orientation and national-patriotic education named after O. Hostishchev of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Participants competed in the 100 m, 400 m, 1000 m, and 3000 m races.

In the overall team standings, the places were distributed as follows:

1st place – Faculty for Training Specialists for Criminal Police Units of the National Police of Ukraine;

2nd place – Dnipro Lyceum named after O. Hostishchev of the Ministry of Internal Affairs;

3rd place – Faculty of Training Specialists for Pretrial Investigation Bodies of the National Police of Ukraine.

The best individual results were shown by the following participants:

100 m (men) – 1) Oleksandr Strelchenko; 2) Oleksandr Sadovskyi; 3) Maksym Velykyi;

100 m (women) – 1) Anastasiia Zanko; 2) Karina Tserpish; 3) Yana Marchak;

400 m (men) – 1) Bohdan Riabchenko; 2) Oleksandr Kariaka; 3) Vitalii Voranko;

400 m (women) – 1) Karina Arutiunova; 2) Sofiia Penia; 3) Nataliia Taran;

1000 m (men) – 1) Vladyslav Zhadanov; 2) Artem Dudko; 3) Serhii Penia;

1000 m (women) – 1) Olena Kubasova; 2) Karina Arutiunova; 3) Yevheniia Tiutiunnyk;

3000 m (men) – 1) Maksym Rudiev; 2) Andrii Koliada; 3) Artem Prymak.

Based on the results of the competition, a university team will be formed for further participation in athletics competitions.
