A practice-oriented lecture on the topic “Basic Cybersecurity” was held at the Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs. The event was organized by specialists of the European Union Advisory Mission in cooperation with university lecturers.

The event took place within the framework of an advanced training course for detectives and investigators from the Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Luhansk regions who specialize in investigating criminal offenses involving children.
The lecture was delivered by EUAM Ukraine Organized Crime Investigations Adviser Christopher Elliott and EU Advisory Mission IT Specialist Dmytro Yehorov.

The speakers discussed the main threats that users of computer equipment and gadgets may encounter in cyberspace. Particular attention was paid to phishing, its various forms, and the typical signs of fraudulent messages.
A wide range of phishing attacks is primarily based on manipulation of the human factor. By creating artificial urgency, intimidating users with consequences, or disguising themselves as official management representatives, cybercriminals encourage people to act impulsively. Therefore, identifying such psychological manipulation techniques is the key to recognizing these types of threats.
In addition, the participants discussed the use of OSINT technologies in police activities, particularly the possibilities of obtaining information important for оперативної work from open sources during criminal investigations.
Such events contribute to improving the digital literacy of law enforcement officers, developing practical information protection skills, and effectively using modern technologies in professional activities.
