A memorial plaque honouring Hero of Ukraine Oleksandr Hostishchev, after whom the Dnipro Security and National-Patriotic Education Lyceum of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine is named, was officially unveiled at the institution.
The commemorative ceremony was attended by Inna Yashchuk, State Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, the leadership of Dnipropetrovsk State University of Internal Affairs, representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs system, public authorities, Ukraine’s security and defence sector, the Lyceum’s teaching staff, students and parents.
The unveiling of the memorial plaque marked the culmination of the celebrations dedicated to the first graduation of the Dnipro Lyceum. It also serves as a lasting reminder to the younger generation of those who gave their lives defending Ukraine’s freedom and independence.
The honour of unveiling the plaque was given to Inna Yashchuk, State Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine; Kyryl Nedria, Director of the Lyceum; and Oleksandr Hostishchev’s family members – his mother, Liudmyla Hostishcheva, and his sister, Iryna Shcherbyna.
Those in attendance observed a minute of silence in memory of Oleksandr Hostishchev and laid flowers at the memorial plaque.
Addressing the participants, Inna Yashchuk emphasized that places of remembrance such as this are not only a tribute to the Hero’s sacrifice but also an important element of national-patriotic education for young people. She noted that the courage, honour and selflessness demonstrated by Ukraine’s defenders inspire a new generation of responsible citizens who are prepared to serve their country and its people.
Oleksandr Hostishchev will forever remain a symbol of professionalism, unwavering loyalty to the oath of service and profound devotion to Ukraine. His name lives on not only in the Lyceum’s official title but also in the memory of everyone who studies, works and enters its doors each day.
From now on, the memorial plaque on the façade of the Dnipro Lyceum will stand as a place of remembrance, gratitude and respect for the Hero who made the ultimate sacrifice for the future of the Ukrainian people.
