Cycle of Events for World Mental Health Day at DSUIA

The Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs held a series of events to mark World Mental Health Day, organized by the Psychological Support Department.

Aimed at raising awareness, practical sessions were conducted for cadets of the Faculty of Training Specialists for the Criminal Police Units of the National Police of Ukraine, the Faculty of Training Specialists for Pretrial Investigation Bodies of the National Police of Ukraine, and the Educational and Research Institute for Training Specialists for Preventive Activity Units of the National Police of Ukraine.

The activities focused on improving adaptation, maintaining a high level of mental health, and preventing mental health disorders such as depression, phobias, personality disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, and addiction to alcohol or drugs.

Psychologists Vladyslav BIDNYAK and Alina HORODNICHENKO provided practical advice on maintaining healthy sleep patterns, nutrition, and physical activity in conditions of limited time and constant threat to life. They also discussed the importance of self-reflection, planning, positive thinking, and exercises to stabilize mental health. During discussions with participants, pathways to improve mental health in today’s challenging environment were outlined.

In addition, a session was held for students of the Institute of Law and Innovative Education, during which they shared difficulties and challenges they face while adapting to studying during martial law. The students received practical recommendations on methods to stabilize their mental state.

Furthermore, a session was conducted for the university’s permanent staff on the topic “Global Experience in Maintaining Mental Health During War.” Participants worked on practical exercises focused on setting priorities and value orientations, and received recommendations for supporting mental health.
