Interrogation of a minor person: simulation exercise for DSUIA cadets

On the occasion of Lawyer’s Day, an educational-practical event was held for 3rd-year cadets of the Faculty of Training Specialists for Pre-Trial Investigation Bodies of the NPU.

The session “Interrogation of a minor person who suffered from human trafficking was conducted using the “Green Room” methodology and took place at the training ground “Crisis Room, friendly to the child.” The training ground was created to form practical skills in future law enforcement officers for conducting procedural actions involving children – victims or witnesses.

The organizers of the event were representatives of the Department of Criminal Procedure – Professor of the Department Olena Soldatenko, Senior Lecturer of the Department Lieutenant Colonel of Police Yuliia Shendryk, and Associate Professor of the Department Major of Police Alina Harkusha.

The cadets practiced the algorithm for conducting the interrogation of a minor person using the “Green Room” methodology, which provides for ensuring psychological comfort, preventing secondary traumatization of the child, and adhering to international standards in the field of human rights protection.

Practical sessions are an important component of the professional training of future investigators, contribute to the formation of skills in ethical communication, empathy, and professional sensitivity to the needs of persons who suffered from crimes.

The event deepened the cadets’ knowledge in the field of criminal procedure and emphasized the importance of a humane approach in the activities of employees of pre-trial investigation bodies, which corresponds to the values of a legal state and the principles of the rule of law.
