Adaptive Basketball Master Class Was Held at DSUIA

NEWS, Sport for military veterans

At Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs, a master class in adaptive basketball for military veterans took place.

#DSUIA. Adaptive sports for veterans. Strength of spirit. Strength of body. Strength of will. We invite veterans!

The event, together with coach Kseniia Afanasieva, was conducted by Viacheslav Kaistro — a military veteran, participant of the Invictus Games (“Games of the Unconquered”), who shared his own experience of returning to active life through sports, told about his path to the Invictus Games and demonstrated to the participants the basic elements of adaptive basketball.

Participants of the first adaptive basketball team in the MIA system of Ukraine, created on the basis of DSUIA, regularly practice technical and tactical elements of the game, increasing the level of physical training and team interaction.

Such events are an important component of the university’s rehabilitation work, which helps veterans not only to restore their physical form, but also to return to active life, strengthen psychological resilience and feel their belonging to a large team.

Regular trainings in adaptive basketball on wheelchairs are organized by the Department of Special Physical Training on the initiative and with the support of the university leadership and are held weekly.
