The event was aimed at deepening historical knowledge and developing professional responsibility among future investigators.

The lecture for students of the Faculty for Training Specialists for Pre-Trial Investigation Units of the National Police of Ukraine was delivered by Professor of the Department of Criminal Procedure Volodymyr Fedchenko. During the meeting, he thoroughly covered the events preceding the accident at the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant, explained the course of the disaster, and outlined its large-scale and long-term consequences.
Particular attention was paid to the causes of the tragedy, including the combination of human factors, serious managerial miscalculations, systemic violations of technical regulations, and the deliberate concealment of the real situation.

The legal aspect of the disaster was also considered: according to Volodymyr Fedchenko, Chornobyl became not only an environmental or technological tragedy but also an example of a large-scale legal and moral failure, the consequences of which are still felt today. He emphasized the importance of adherence to the rule of law, transparency in managerial decisions, and personal responsibility of officials, especially in high-risk conditions.
The event contributed to deepening cadets’ knowledge of one of the most tragic pages in history, as well as to shaping their understanding of the role of law enforcement agencies in preventing similar disasters in the future.
