The invited speaker was the Head of the Department of the Zaporizhzhia-Nikopol Department for Providing Free Legal Aid of the South-Eastern Directorate for Providing Free Legal Aid of the South-Eastern Interregional Centre for Providing Free Legal Aid Pavlo Dovhopol.

The event was organised by the Department of Administrative Law and Procedure and the Department of Tactical and Special Training of the Educational and Research Institute of Training Specialists for Units of Preventive Activity of the NPU of the Institute of Postgraduate Education and Distance Learning of DSUIA, within the framework of teaching the discipline “Algorithm of Actions of Patrol Police Officers in Various Situations of Service Activity (Scenarios)”.

Pavlo Dovhopol told the police officers about the system of free legal aid — the largest human rights organisation in Ukraine, presented to them the nationwide and regional experience of providing free legal aid, and introduced them to successful protection practices.

The speaker focused on the most pressing issues that lawyers and police officers have to deal with in the course of performing their official duties.

The issue of timely provision of qualified legal assistance to victims of domestic violence was discussed, as such problems are addressed to legal aid centres and bureaus quite frequently.

The meeting was held in the format of an open dialogue, which encouraged the participants to think, analyse, jointly seek solutions, and improve communication skills.
