Students of the Center for Special Professional Training “Police Academy” of DSUIA joined the events dedicated to the Day of Remembrance and Victory over Nazism in World War II of 1939–1945.

Those present honored the memory of fallen soldiers and civilians with a minute of silence.

The main symbol of the meeting was the red poppy flower placed on the clothing of each participant — a sign of remembrance for those who gave their lives for peaceful skies then, and for those defending Ukraine’s independence today.

During the curator’s hour, Director of the “Police Academy” of DSUIA Mykola Nazarenko emphasized the importance of the connection between generations. He noted that the profession of a police officer is service to the people and protection of the values of freedom for which Ukrainians have fought for centuries.

Participants of the meeting also discussed the role of the Ukrainian people in the victory over Nazism, drawing parallels between the events of the mid-20th century and Ukraine’s current struggle against Russian aggression.

Such events help form a strong civic position among law enforcement officers, deep respect for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as awareness of personal responsibility for protecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the state.
