The “Veterans Basket” team, which includes veterans of Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs, took part in wheelchair adaptive basketball competitions held as part of the “Games of the Unbroken.”

The tournament took place outdoors in the square in front of the Solomiya Krushelnytska Lviv National Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre. This format was designed to draw public attention to the role of adaptive sports in veterans’ rehabilitation and to promote an active lifestyle among defenders recovering from injuries.

Four teams from different regions of Ukraine participated in the competition. The “Veterans Basket” players competed against teams from Kyiv, Rivne, and Odesa, creating scoring opportunities and demonstrating confident performances in both offense and defense. Despite the high level of competition and the skill of their opponents, the athletes showed dedication, discipline, and a strong desire to win, gaining valuable competitive experience.

Wheelchair basketball is one of the most dynamic adaptive sports. It contributes to the development of physical strength, coordination, endurance, and reaction speed. Equally important is its positive impact on veterans’ psychological well-being: team play helps restore self-confidence, maintains motivation for training, and creates an environment of mutual support and communication.

Participation in the “Games of the Unbroken” became an important milestone in the sporting development of the DSUIA team and confirmed its readiness to compete достойно at the national level.
