DSUIA Concludes Introductory Lecture Series “Introduction to Polygraphology” for Students, Lyceum Learners, and Academic Staff

Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs has completed a series of elective and introductory lectures dedicated to the use of polygraphs in the security and defense sector and the specifics of the professional activities of polygraph examiners.

The series was conducted by polygraph examiner, Candidate of Law, Police Lieutenant Colonel Oleksandr Shcherbyna. Participants included higher education students, academic and teaching staff of the university, trainees of the Police Academy, as well as students of the Oleksii Hostishchev Dnipro Lyceum of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

During the lectures, participants became acquainted with the history of polygraphology, the principles of polygraph operation, the specifics of conducting psychophysiological examinations, and the areas in which polygraphs are used within the security and defense sector. Particular attention was paid to the involvement of polygraph examiners in crime detection, operational-search activities, internal investigations, and personnel selection processes.

As part of the lecture series, attendees learned about the professional and ethical standards of polygraph examiners, the procedures for conducting examinations, and practical aspects of communication with interviewees. Participants were also introduced to the principles of operation of specialized equipment and the specifics of conducting examinations using a polygraph.

A separate career guidance event was organized for lyceum students, who learned about the specifics of the polygraph examiner profession and modern applications of psychophysiological examinations in the security sector.

Such educational activities contribute to expanding the professional knowledge of students and academic staff, familiarizing them with modern law enforcement tools, and strengthening the practical component of the educational process at the university.
