The event was organized by the Psychological Support Unit of DSUIA with the aim of fostering a strong negative attitude among third-year cadets of the Faculty for Training Specialists for Pre-Trial Investigation Bodies of the National Police of Ukraine toward all forms of gender-based violence, including domestic violence.
The moderator of the event, Vladyslav Bidniak, began the session with an overview of historical experience, highlighting the scale of the problem and its particular relevance for Ukraine under martial law.
Participants examined the psychological mechanisms behind the formation and maintenance of gender stereotypes in society, their connection to cases of domestic violence, and possible approaches to preventing and overcoming these phenomena.
Throughout the training, active discussions focused on the role of police officers in ensuring gender equality, reducing incidents of violence, and preventing biased attitudes toward victims.
Team exercises, specially selected video materials, and role-playing simulations helped the cadets develop practical skills in identifying and responding to manifestations of gender-based violence. Participants noted that the training enabled them to recognize their own hidden stereotypes and critically reassess them.
The event became an important step in the professional training of future law enforcement officers. It not only enhanced their knowledge and skills but also contributed to a deeper understanding of personal responsibility in fostering a culture of gender equality, preventing violence, and providing assistance to victims in the challenging conditions of today.
