DSUIA Conducts Psychological Resilience Training for Future Police Officers

Cadets of Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs participated in the training session “Personal Experience of Overcoming Crises and Building Resources.” The event was organized as part of the implementation of the “Psychological Practices Center” project.

The training was aimed at developing self-regulation skills, increasing awareness of personal resources, and enhancing psychological readiness for professional challenges. The session was conducted by Alina Horodnychenko, a psychologist of the DSUIA Psychological Support Unit.

During the training, the cadets explored the nature of personal crises, became familiar with the concept of post-traumatic growth, and completed a series of reflective exercises based on the analysis of their own experiences. Particular attention was paid to identifying internal personal resources, including values, beliefs, and character strengths, as well as external sources of support such as family, colleagues, and the broader social environment.

An important component of the training was a group discussion during which participants shared their views and personal experiences of overcoming difficulties. This interaction helped them realize that peer support and shared experiences can serve as effective resources in challenging life circumstances.

As a result of the training, the cadets acquired practical tools for self-regulation and cognitive reframing of stressful events, which will help them cope more effectively with emotional challenges during their future service.

“The Psychological Practices Center at our university is not a series of one-time events but a systematic effort. We are consistently building an environment in which cadets have access to psychological support at every stage of their education. The regularity of such training sessions is a deliberate investment in the psychological readiness of future police officers for real service,” emphasized Serhii Vyshnevskyi, Head of the Psychological Support Unit.
