At DSUIA, a psychological training for first-line specialists has concluded

The event was organized within the framework of the Ukrainian-Swiss project “Mental Health for Ukraine” MH4U, which supports the implementation of the reform of the mental health care system in cooperation with the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.

Participation in the event was taken by practical psychologists and pedagogical workers of institutions of secondary education of the city of Kamianske of Dnipropetrovsk region. In total, 16 participants joined the training.

The training was conducted by the head of the department of psychological support of DSUIA, a specialist in brainspotting, a full member of the National Psychological Association of Ukraine and the Association of Psychologists of Higher School of Ukraine Serhii Vyshnevskyi, as well as an art therapist, a leading psychologist of the department of psychological support of DSUIA Hanna Mhlynets.

During the training, the participants deepened their knowledge of the basics of mental health and familiarized themselves with the most common mental disorders according to the DSM-5 classification. Within the framework of the training, the peculiarities of the behavior of people who are in a psycho-emotional crisis were considered and attention was paid to mastering the five-stage model of interaction with persons who have difficulties in the field of mental health. In addition, algorithms for providing primary psychological support were practiced, and skills of effective and empathetic communication were improved.

The assistant to the rector of DSUIA on gender issues, Doctor of Law, Professor, Honored Lawyer of Ukraine Larysa Nalyvaiko addressed those present, thanked for the interest in the topic of the training and emphasized that this knowledge will be useful for first-line specialists in daily work with children and adolescents, will help to timely identify psycho-emotional difficulties and provide qualified psychological assistance.

Also, the regional coordinator of the MH4U project in the city of Dnipro and Dnipropetrovsk region Anna Horodnichenko addressed the participants, who emphasized the importance of spreading knowledge about mental health among teachers and psychologists in conditions of martial law.

According to the results of the training, the participants were awarded the corresponding certificates.
