DSUIA Concludes Universal Mental Health Training for Frontline Professionals

Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs has successfully completed the Universal Mental Health Training for Frontline Professionals, delivered within the framework of the Ukrainian-Swiss project “Mental Health for Ukraine” (MH4U). Upon completion of the programme, participants received certificates.

The training was conducted by Serhii Vyshnevskyi, Head of the Psychological Support Unit at DSUIA, Brainspotting practitioner, and full member of the National Psychological Association of Ukraine and the Association of Higher School Psychologists of Ukraine, together with Hanna Mhlynets, art therapist and lead psychologist of the University’s Psychological Support Unit. The programme brought together school psychologists and teaching staff from secondary education institutions in the city of Kamianske, Dnipropetrovsk Region.

Throughout the training, participants explored modern approaches to identifying psycho-emotional disorders, including the most common mental health conditions classified under the DSM-5. The practical component focused on case analysis, crisis response strategies and communication techniques for interacting with individuals experiencing psychological distress. Participants also practiced the delivery of psychological first aid and learned evidence-based approaches to providing effective support in crisis situations.

At the closing ceremony, the participants were addressed by Larysa Nalyvaiko, Advisor to the Rector on Gender Issues, Doctor of Law, Professor, and Honoured Lawyer of Ukraine. She thanked the participants for their active engagement throughout the programme and emphasized that high-quality training of frontline professionals is an essential component of strengthening Ukraine’s modern mental healthcare system.

The training concluded with the presentation of certificates to all participants in recognition of their successful completion of the programme.
