New graduate of the Barrier-Free Driving School of DSUIA: veteran and Paralympian Volodymyr received a driver’s license

Military veteran and professional rower Volodymyr from Mykolaiv successfully passed the exams and received a driver’s license of category “B” at the Barrier-Free Driving School of the Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs.

Before the full-scale invasion, Volodymyr served in the ranks of the KORD police and actively engaged in academic rowing. He was a prize-winner of the European Championships in 2017 and 2018, and also took part in the World Championship. He met the war in Kherson region, where he was under occupation for some time and suffered torture by the aggressor occupiers.

After the liberation of the territory, the man immediately joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine, got into the airborne assault troops. He took part in the liberation of Lyman, and was wounded in the Kreminna forest. As a result of the injury, he has disorders of the musculoskeletal system.

During rehabilitation after prosthetics, Volodymyr learned about the Barrier-Free Driving School of DSUIA and decided to master new skills. Thanks to the professional support of the instructors, he confidently mastered theory and practice, successfully passed the exams and received the license.

Today, Volodymyr is a member of the Ukrainian Paralympic rowing team. He took part in the final of the European Championship and races at the World Cup stage. Currently, the man plans to pass all selections and win a ticket to the Paralympic Games, which will take place in 2028 in Los Angeles (USA).
