The event was organized for members of the DSUIA veteran community in a peer-to-peer format as part of the “Psychological Practices Hub” project. The workshop was conducted by art therapist Hanna Mhlynets, Lead Psychologist of the Psychological Support Unit of the Educational Support Department at DSUIA.

The purpose of the workshop was to create a safe environment for self-expression, emotional recovery, and mutual support among participants. The practical session was based on the creation of a mandala as a therapeutic tool for exploring one’s inner state and fostering harmony between emotions, thoughts, and personal values.

Participants explored the symbolism of their personal “shield” as a representation of inner strength, core values, and the personal resources they can rely on in challenging life circumstances. The creative process encouraged greater awareness of personal experiences, reflection on emotional challenges, and the discovery of new sources of inner resilience.

Particular attention was paid to the significance of color as a means of expressing emotional states, current needs, and personal aspirations. Working with color associations helped participants develop self-regulation skills, reduce psycho-emotional stress, and restore inner balance.

Serhii Vyshnevskyi, Head of the Psychological Support Unit, emphasized the importance of the peer-to-peer format, which fostered an atmosphere of trust, openness, and acceptance. Participants had the opportunity not only to explore their own emotions and personal symbols but also to appreciate the value of shared experiences, support one another, and recognize the importance of mutual understanding on the path to psychological recovery.
According to the workshop facilitator, Hanna Mhlynets, such initiatives are an important component of the psychological support system for the veteran community. They contribute to strengthening psychological resilience, restoring emotional balance, and helping participants discover new personal resources for a fulfilling and active life.
