The sports event took place on 15–16 August 2026 in the city of Odesa and was organized by the Ministry for Veterans Affairs of Ukraine and the Public Union “Federation of Pétanque of Ukraine”. More than 30 teams from many regions of Ukraine took part in the event.
Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs was represented by military veterans Oleksandr Hryshchuk, Serhii Shtym, Yevhen Ratkov and Yurii Zhurba.
Veteran-athletes of DSUIA competed in the triplets format. The participants worthily showed themselves in the competitive struggle, demonstrated coordinated team interaction, endurance, strategic thinking and high concentration.
The athletes believe that pétanque is an effective tool of physical and psychological rehabilitation. The game contributes to the development of coordination of movements, fine motor skills, restoration of balance and endurance, at the same time helps to reduce the level of stress, restore social ties and feel team support.
Similar events contribute to the comprehensive recovery of veterans, strengthening of their psychological resilience, return to active social life and popularization of adaptive sport among the defenders of Ukraine.
