The meeting was organized by the Head of the Department of Social and Humanitarian Work, Police Lieutenant Colonel Nataliia Karnaukh.
First-year cadets of the Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs took part in the event. The meeting began with the honoring of the memory of fallen defenders with a minute of silence.
Nataliia Karnaukh noted that independence and freedom have always been fundamental values for Ukrainians. It was they that prompted the people to struggle and gave the strength to remain themselves in times of statelessness.
The proclamation of independence on 24 August 1991 became a logical continuation of Ukrainian state-building. During the meeting, the main attention was paid to the fact that in 1991 the restoration of independence took place.
The cadets were reminded that the independence of Ukraine was proclaimed by the Ukrainian Central Rada on 22 January 1918 by the IV Universal, in March 1939 the Transcarpathians won and proclaimed the independence of Carpathian Ukraine, and in June 1941 in Lviv representatives of the OUN proclaimed the Act of Restoration of the Ukrainian State.
Also, Nataliia Karnaukh demonstrated to the cadets a copy of the Act of Proclamation of the Independence of Ukraine, noting the fatefulness of this document in history.
In addition, the cadets watched a cartoon film based on the poem “Wings” by Lina Kostenko performed by Bohdan Stupka, and also took part in a quiz dedicated to the Independence Day of Ukraine.
Similar measures contribute to the deepening of the cadets’ knowledge of the history of Ukrainian state-building, the formation of national consciousness and the awareness of the significance of the independence of Ukraine as a fundamental value.
