Psychological support of veterans and their families: mini-discussion at DSUIA

With military veterans who work at the university, met the leading psychologist of the department of psychological support of DSUIA Hanna Mhlynets.

The meeting was devoted to the discussion of the most relevant issues, which daily are faced by the defenders of Ukraine and their relatives in the process of civilian adaptation. This gave the opportunity to focus on live situations taken from the interaction of veterans and people who were not in the zone of combat operations.

At the beginning of the event, those present were greeted by the head of the department of psychological support of DSUIA Serhii Vyshnevskyi.

During the event, the participants together with the specialist analyzed in detail several typical scenarios, having analyzed both problems and effective instruments of their overcoming.

The main attention was paid to interaction in families and support of the relatives of veterans, preservation of own resources and mental health, as well as finding new meanings, as well as professional guidelines.

In addition, work was conducted with the consequences of combat trauma. An analysis of practical techniques of self-regulation under a high level of anxiety, emotional instability was carried out.

The event became an important step in the development of veteran policy of Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs. The requests and wishes obtained during the discussion of current issues for further work within the framework of the project “Point of Psychological Practices” will be used for the improvement of psychological assistance programs that operate on the basis of the university.
