An optional class for cadets of group KP-262-24-1 was conducted by the head of the department of criminal law and criminology of the faculty of training specialists for pre-trial investigation bodies of the National Police of Ukraine Vasyl Berezniak.
The topic of the class was “Peculiarities of the qualification of criminal offenses against the environment”.
The participants of the class raised the issues of international-legal protection of the environment, qualification of criminal offenses in the sphere of protection of subsoil, qualification of ecocide as an ecological crime, etc.
Special attention during the class was paid to problematic issues of distinguishing separate elements of criminal offenses against the environment, establishing the signs of their objective and subjective sides, determining the subject of the criminal-unlawful encroachment, as well as the significance of consequences and causal connection for correct criminal-legal qualification.
The discussion of a wide range of ecological criminal offenses contributed to the deepening of the knowledge of the cadets regarding the mechanisms of criminal-legal protection of natural resources and the formation of skills of a comprehensive approach to the legal assessment of environmentally dangerous acts.
The conduct of such optional classes is an important component of the professional training of future employees of the National Police of Ukraine. The in-depth study by cadets of the peculiarities of the qualification of criminal offenses against the environment contributes to the formation in applicants of education of the proper level of professional competence, necessary for the effective protection of ecological safety.
