Together with concerned local residents, the cadets helped clean up the central Dnipro waterfront as part of the annual environmental initiative.
During the cleanup, the cadets collected plastic and glass bottles, packaging, paper and other household waste left behind by visitors to the area. They worked together, dividing the site into sections and assisting one another, as the overall result of the initiative depended on the contribution of every participant.
The work was coordinated by staff members of the University’s Department of Social and Humanitarian Work.
The event was traditionally organized by the Department of Environmental Policy of the Dnipro City Council in cooperation with the NGO “Let’s Do It Ukraine.” More than 80 volunteers took part in the cleanup, covering up to 500 meters of the waterfront and collecting approximately 6 cubic meters of waste.
For DSUIA cadets, participation in such initiatives is an important part of developing environmental awareness and a responsible attitude toward public spaces. According to the cadets, they are not only contributing to a worthwhile cause but also setting an example for local residents and demonstrating that positive change in the community begins with individual participation.
World Cleanup Day aims to raise awareness of littering and promote responsible waste management. In Ukraine, the 2026 initiative is being implemented in various formats, including local community cleanups, provided that wartime safety requirements are observed.
