The university’s athletes won four gold, one silver, and one bronze medal.
The competition was held in Kyiv and brought together 488 fighters from 19 regions of Ukraine. Participants competed in full combat, low combat, K-combat, Thai boxing combat, free combat, mixed combat, free boxing, Gi and No-Gi free wrestling, as well as applied combat.
Dnipro State University was represented at the tournament by cadets Bohdan Riabchenko (KP-262-24-1), Illia Humennyk (DR-081-24-1), and Serhii Shapoval (DR-081-24-1). The athletes competed confidently and technically, defeating strong opponents and winning a number of medals in different disciplines:
Bohdan Riabchenko – 1st place in mixed combat, 1st place in No-Gi free wrestling;
Illia Humennyk – 1st place in No-Gi free wrestling, 2nd place in mixed combat;
Serhii Shapoval – 1st place in mixed combat, 3rd place in K-1.
The championship was held under the leadership of Oleksandr Slipchenko, President of the All-Ukrainian Association of Martial Arts “Combat Self-Defense ICO” and Honored Coach of Ukraine. Yaroslav Tkachenko served as the competition’s chief secretary and an international-category referee.
The successful performance of DSUIA cadets at a championship of this level was another confirmation of their athletic skills, high level of training, and continued commitment to self-development. We are proud of their achievements and wish the athletes many more victories!
