Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs took part in the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation on the development of university sports in Dnipropetrovsk Region. The document brings together the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine and higher education institutions of the region to create new opportunities for the development of youth sports.
DSUIA was represented at the event by First Vice-Rector and Acting Rector Ihor Mahdalina.
The Memorandum provides for the consolidation of the parties’ resources and capabilities to develop university sports, support promising athletes, improve sports infrastructure and create conditions that enable students to combine their studies with systematic athletic training.
One of the key areas of cooperation is the implementation of the nationwide multisport project “Path of Champions,” launched by the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine in 2024. The initiative aims to support talented young athletes, create opportunities to combine education with intensive sports training and develop Ukraine’s sports talent pool.
“Dnipropetrovsk Region is the first region to join the ‘Path of Champions’ project. This provides young people with an opportunity to combine sports and education at secondary education institutions,” said Oleksii Nikitenko, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine.
Ihor Mahdalina emphasized that physical education and sports are an integral part of DSUIA’s educational environment and the professional training of its students.
“DSUIA has strong sporting traditions and the necessary facilities and equipment. Our students train systematically, are members of university teams, and represent the University at national and international competitions. At the same time, we are actively developing veterans’ sports, creating opportunities for physical recovery, social integration, and veterans’ return to active life. Bringing together the potential of the state, educational institutions, and the sports community opens up new opportunities for developing this area,” said Ihor Mahdalina.
Following the signing of the Memorandum, the participants toured the facilities and sports infrastructure of Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs. The guests were presented with the University’s capabilities for physical and specialized physical training of students, training of university teams and the development of adaptive sports.
The participants visited sports and fitness halls as well as specialized training facilities at DSUIA. Particular attention was paid to infrastructure used for training military veterans and implementing sports and rehabilitation programs.
DSUIA’s participation in implementing the Memorandum will contribute to expanding inter-university cooperation, sharing expertise, organizing joint sporting events and creating additional opportunities for the development of university and adaptive sports.
