Model court session for police officers: an interactive format of training and professional development

The session took place with the participation of patrol police officers from Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia regions, who are undergoing professional development in the department of organization of professional development and specialization of the Institute of Postgraduate Education and Distance Learning of DSUIA.

The class took place at the training ground “Courtroom” of DSUIA. The event was organized by the department of administrative law and process and the department of tactical and special training within the framework of teaching the academic discipline “Algorithm of actions of patrol police officers in various situations of official activity (scenarios)”.

The speaker of the class was the judge of the Samarskyi District Court of the city of Dnipro Oksana Poshtarenko.

The event gave the participants the opportunity to improve their professional skills, as well as to master new methodologies and tools necessary for the effective performance of official duties.

The police officers had the opportunity to feel themselves in the role of participants of the court process: persons brought to administrative responsibility, victims, witnesses, legal representatives, etc.

The class concerned the consideration of a case on bringing persons to administrative responsibility for the commission of domestic violence. The model session reflected a real court process with the observance of all procedures provided for by legislation.

Such events are maximally effective for law enforcement officers, contribute to the development of professional thinking, skills of legal argumentation, analysis of collected evidence and the correct application of legal norms in practice.
