Representatives of the veteran community of Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs took part in an archery training session organized at the initiative of representatives of the Solone Territorial Community.

At the invitation of military veteran Yevhen Ratkov, the event was attended by Oleksandr Hryshchuk, Assistant to the Rector of DSUIA for Veterans’ Affairs; Serhii Shtym, Duty Assistant at the University’s Service Organization Department; military veteran Yurii Zhurba; and Ivan Zmiievskyi, Assistant to the Head of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Dnipropetrovsk Region for Veterans’ Affairs.
During the training session, participants improved their archery skills and practised aiming techniques, shooting accuracy, and coordination. Particular attention was paid to concentration, composure, and self-control, which are essential components of this sport.

In addition, DSUIA representatives held a pétanque master class for all attendees. Participants learned about the specifics of the game, its basic rules, and had the opportunity to try their hand at practical exercises. This format helped broaden their understanding of available adaptive sports and their potential for supporting veterans’ physical and psychological recovery.
An important part of the event was the informal interaction among veterans, the exchange of experience, and mutual support. Joint sporting activities help strengthen social ties, develop teamwork, relieve psychological stress, and encourage an active lifestyle.
Participation in such initiatives is part of DSUIA’s ongoing efforts to develop veteran and adaptive sports. Cooperation with territorial communities helps expand sporting opportunities, promote adaptive disciplines, and create favourable conditions for the social adaptation and reintegration of veterans.
