NEWS

An optional training session entitled “Cyber Hygiene on the Internet: Protect Yourself” was held at Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs for third-year cadets from the Faculty of Training Specialists for the Criminal Police Units of the National Police of Ukraine.

The session was conducted by Mykyta Vovk, Senior Police Lieutenant and Senior Inspector of the Analytical Work Department of the Criminal Analysis Directorate of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Donetsk Region.

During the session, the cadets learned about the fundamental principles of cyber hygiene, current threats in the digital environment, and ways to protect personal data. Particular attention was paid to different types of phishing attacks, how they are carried out, and the warning signs of fraudulent messages and websites.

The participants also examined the main types of malware, common signs of device infection, and measures to prevent cyber threats. The practical component covered the safe use of web browsers, connecting to Wi-Fi networks, and following basic digital security rules.

The cadets also received recommendations on protecting their accounts, identifying potentially dangerous links, and developing responsible online behaviour.

Such sessions help improve the digital literacy of future law enforcement officers, develop their ability to counter cyber threats, and foster an information security culture essential both in everyday life and in professional activities.
