DSUIA Holds Art Therapy Session for Mothers of Ukraine’s Defenders

NEWS

A painting workshop entitled “The Natural Rhythm of Emotions and Inner Renewal” was organized by the Psychological Support Unit of the Personnel and Organizational Support Department of DSUIA, with the support of Larisa Nalyvaiko, Rector’s Adviser on Gender Issues, and Tetiana Hutiar, Head of the Dnipro branch of the NGO “Razom UA”.

The workshop was led by Hanna Mhlynets, the University’s practicing psychologist and professional artist. For the session, she chose the wet-on-wet watercolour technique, which allows participants to express their feelings and experiences through colours and artistic imagery. This approach helps relieve emotional tension, encourages self-expression and promotes the restoration of inner balance.

Hanna Mhlynets emphasized the importance of art therapy in strengthening personal coping resources, particularly amid prolonged psychological stress and emotional exhaustion. She also praised the participants for their openness, perseverance and enthusiasm, thanking them for their active involvement and willingness to engage in the creative process.

According to the organizers, such meetings provide a space for compassion, care and mutual support, where every participant can feel that she is not alone in facing her experiences.

DSUIA will continue supporting initiatives aimed at providing psychological assistance, promoting social adaptation and fostering the emotional recovery of the families of Ukraine’s Defenders. Caring for those affected by the consequences of war is not only an expression of gratitude but also an important part of our shared responsibility.
