DSUIA Course Supervisors Enhance Their Mentoring and Anti-Bullying Skills

NEWS

Representatives of the Faculty for Training Specialists for National Police Preventive Activity Units have successfully completed two professional development programmes: “Mentoring: What It Is, Who It Is For and How It Works” and “Combating and Preventing Bullying in Educational Institutions”.

The knowledge and skills acquired will contribute to improving educational and mentoring practices, communication and interaction with cadets under their supervision.

As part of the mentoring educational series on the Diia.Education platform, participants explored the principles of building relationships based on trust, effective support strategies, and the age-related and psychological factors influencing interpersonal communication. Particular attention was paid to the ethical boundaries of a mentor’s role, fostering independence and responsibility, providing constructive feedback and preventing emotional burnout.

The course on the Prometheus platform focused on identifying, preventing and addressing bullying in educational settings. During the 80-hour programme, participants studied different forms and manifestations of bullying, the behavioural patterns of those involved, methods for identifying problematic situations, as well as response procedures and preventive measures. They also explored approaches to developing a comprehensive anti-bullying system, creating a safe, violence-free environment and fostering a culture of mutual respect within a group.

These competencies are of direct practical relevance to course supervisors. Their responsibilities extend beyond organising the educational process to include daily interaction with cadets, addressing communication challenges, maintaining a positive psychological climate and responding promptly to conflict situations.

Applying modern approaches to mentoring and bullying prevention will help strengthen supervisors’ leadership skills, improve the effectiveness of educational activities and foster a cohesive community in which discipline is grounded in responsibility, trust and mutual respect.
