At the initiative of the course leadership and the Department of Special Physical Training, cadets of the Faculty for Training Specialists for Criminal Police Units of the National Police of Ukraine took part in a practical hand-to-hand combat class.

The session was conducted by Senior Lecturer of the Department of Special Physical Training, Police Major Serhii Petrenko. The training began with an intensive warm-up aimed at preparing muscles and preventing injuries. Then the instructor reminded the cadets of the techniques for performing both basic and more advanced elements, paying attention to correct body positioning, coordination of movements, and соблюдение safety measures.

Under the supervision of Serhii Petrenko, the cadets practiced self-defense techniques, release from holds, counterattack actions, and elements of apprehending an offender. Particular attention was paid to the accuracy of movements, reaction speed, and teamwork in pairs.

Deputy Head of the course, Police Lieutenant Yuliia Khorolska, emphasized that such training is an important component of professional preparation, as it develops endurance, discipline, and confidence in one’s actions.
According to her, systematic practice allows techniques to be brought to automaticity, which is necessary for effective and timely response while performing official duties.
Conducting such classes contributes to the development of physical readiness of future police officers, improvement of their professional competencies, and enhancement of personal safety.
