“Current Issues of Preventing Corruption and Fostering Integrity in the Security and Defense Sector, Law Enforcement Agencies”: Round Table at DSUIA

The event took place in a mixed format with the support of the Corruption Prevention Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.

The event was opened by the Vice-Rector of Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs, Police Colonel Oleksandr Yunin, and the Head of the Corruption Prevention Department of the MIA of Ukraine Anatolii Fodchuk.

The guests and participants of the event were greeted by the Head of the NATO Team on Integrity Building/Governance and Institutions of the Defense and Security Cooperation Directorate of the Operations Division, headquartered in Brussels, Joakim Frendin.

Representatives of the National Agency on Corruption Prevention, the Asset Recovery and Management Agency, the Ukrainian Center for Professional Certification, the National Police of Ukraine, the National University “Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic”, and the public association “Foundation for Institutional Development” took part in the work of the round table.

The moderator of the event was the Authorized Person for Anti-Corruption Activities of DSUIA Ruslan Lupyr, who directed the discussion towards combining theoretical developments with practical cases.

An important area of discussion was the effective interaction with whistleblowers and the functioning of the Unified Whistleblower Reporting Portal; the conflict of interest, restrictions on receiving gifts, combination and concurrence with other types of activities were considered; NATO standards and their recommendations were discussed; the participants learned about the mechanism for the return of assets obtained from corruption crimes by the Asset Recovery and Management Agency.

Employees of the State Border Guard and Migration Services of Ukraine, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, the National Guard of Ukraine, the Main Departments of the National Police in Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Luhansk, Poltava oblasts, the Department of Internal Security and Strategic Investigations of the National Police, regional service centers of the Main Service Center of the MIA, research expert-criminalistic centers of the MIA, the State Institution “Territorial Medical Association of the MIA”, higher education institutions with specific training conditions that belong to the sphere of management of the MIA of Ukraine joined the discussion.
