Sport as Rehabilitation: Pétanque Training for Military Veterans Continues at DSUIA

NEWS, Sport for military veterans

The event is organised by the Department of Special Physical Training with the support of the management of Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs.

Pétanque training sessions for military veterans are regularly held at DSUIA. This sport is not only a strategic game of accuracy and coordination, but also an effective instrument of physical and psychological rehabilitation, which is gaining increasing popularity among veterans around the world.

During the sessions, the participants practise throwing techniques, master the basics of game tactics and strategy, and develop concentration and coordination of movements. Pétanque organically combines moderate physical activity with live communication, which is an important component of social adaptation and psychological recovery.

DSUIA veterans have already managed to demonstrate significant results: they have repeatedly taken part in competitions in this sport and have taken prize places at interregional tournaments and all-Ukrainian competitions.

Such events contribute to the active rehabilitation and social adaptation of veterans, the promotion of adaptive sports, the formation of a healthy lifestyle and the gradual integration of Ukraine’s defenders into active public life.
