Sports for Veterans: Table Tennis Training Was Held at DSUIA

NEWS, Sport for military veterans

The session was conducted by the Department of Special Physical Training of Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs with the organisational assistance and support of the university’s management.

#DSUIA. Adaptive Sports for Veterans. Strength of Spirit. Strength of Body. Strength of Will. We invite veterans!

The session was conducted by Vasyl Koval — Champion of Ukraine, professional coach and active promoter of the development of veteran sports.

During the training, the veterans worked with new equipment — a trainer for practising the tennis stroke “topspin”.

Table tennis contributes to comprehensive recovery. It helps to maintain and restore physical fitness, develops reaction speed, coordination of movements, accuracy and concentration. In addition, regular sessions contribute to reducing stress levels, improving emotional state and help to overcome the consequences of combat injuries and concussions.

For military veterans, such sport has special significance. It becomes not only a means of physical rehabilitation, but also an important instrument of social adaptation, restoration of self-confidence and return to an active life. Sessions in the “peer-to-peer” format provide the opportunity to communicate, share experiences and support one another.

Conducting systematic sports events for veterans is one of the priority areas of DSUIA’s social activities. The university not only trains future law enforcement officers, but also actively supports those who have already defended Ukraine, helping them return to a full life through sport, rehabilitation and constant attention.
