The first team of veterans of the Ministry of Internal Affairs system of Ukraine, Veterans Basket Dnipro, which includes representatives of the Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs, began its participation in the “Hart” wheelchair basketball tournament held on May 9–10 with the participation of 12 teams from different regions of Ukraine.
During the group stage, the team played two matches. In the first game, Veterans Basket Dnipro faced the hosts of the tournament — the team “Vilni Voiny Lviv united.” The match ended with a score of 19:5 in favor of the Lviv team.
The second match against the team “Titany Lviv” was intense and emotional. The game continued until the final minutes, and Veterans Basket Dnipro secured an important victory with a score of 11:10.
As a result of the group stage, the team took second place in its group and continues competing for a place in the tournament final.
Today, adaptive basketball is not only a sports discipline but also an important area of physical and psychological rehabilitation for war veterans at DSUIA. For the participants, it is an opportunity to maintain physical fitness, recover, strengthen teamwork, and remain active in the sports environment.
