Cooperation of patrol police with the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Center of Social Services under martial law: a binary lesson at DSUIA

Within the framework of mastering the academic discipline “Prevention and Counteraction to Domestic Violence” at DSUIA, a binary lesson was held dedicated to the peculiarities of interaction between patrol police officers and social service centers under martial law.

In the Department of Organization of Advanced Training and Specialization of the Institute of Postgraduate Education and Distance Learning of DSUIA, who are undergoing long-term advanced training. The invited speaker was the Deputy Director of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Center of Social Services Olesia Bilko.

The lesson was conducted by the senior lecturer of the Department of Administrative Law and Procedure Mykola Repan.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss current issues of interaction between social services and law enforcement agencies, as well as strengthening the protection of the rights and safety of children under martial law.

The participants discussed algorithms for responding to cases of domestic violence against children, mechanisms for identifying families where there is a risk of committing such violence, algorithms for responding to cases of violence against children and increasing public awareness of rights and available mechanisms for receiving assistance.

The next stage is documenting the circumstances and referring the child to centers for the provision of social services or medical institutions. The final component of the algorithm is social support and monitoring of the situation, which is carried out jointly by child services, social service centers, the school and educational safety officers.

Summing up, Olesia Bilko indicated that each of us can be the driving force that will help break the chain of domestic violence against children.

The meeting aroused significant interest among those present, as during the discussion they actively asked questions, receiving qualified answers.
