NEWS

The event was organized by the International Cooperation Department and the Department of Language Training of Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs with the aim of improving cadets’ English language proficiency.

The online meeting was conducted by European expert Mateusz Kowalski, Associate Professor at the Autonomous University of Lisbon and Visiting Associate Professor at Nova School of Law (Portugal).

Professor Kowalski prepared informative multimedia presentations for the participants, and the event was divided into two extensive thematic sections.

During the first part, entitled “The Security Architecture of the United Nations,” the speaker analyzed the current state and challenges of the UN global security system. Following the presentation, participants had the opportunity to ask questions regarding the reform of international institutions and the effectiveness of their responses to contemporary threats.

The second part of the lecture focused on one of the most relevant and widely debated issues of today – the regulation of the military use of artificial intelligence. Mateusz Kowalski outlined the legal and ethical aspects of applying artificial intelligence technologies in the military sphere, as well as the efforts of the international community to establish clear legal frameworks for governing these processes.

A distinctive feature of the lecture was its interactive format. A question-and-answer session was held after each section. Cadets actively participated in the discussion, demonstrating a high level of proficiency in professional terminology and a deep understanding of the subject matter.

The event generated considerable interest among higher education students seeking to expand their knowledge of contemporary trends in international law.
