DSUIA Veterans Among Prize Winners of a Billiards Tournament in Dnipro

NEWS, Sport for military veterans

Representatives of the university won gold and silver medals at a veterans’ American pool tournament.

The competition took place at the Billiards Academy venue and brought together more than 30 participants, including war veterans and wounded service members. The tournament served not only as a sporting challenge but also as a platform for communication, mutual support, and the social adaptation of defenders.

Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs was represented by members of the university’s veteran community: Oleksandr Hryshchuk, Yevhen Ratkov, Ivan Nazarenko, Artem Formalov, Maksym Karasiuk, and Eduard Kyrylov. Throughout the tournament, participants played a series of intense matches in the Pool-8 discipline, where every game required maximum concentration, self-control, and thoughtful decision-making.

Following the results of the competition, Maksym Karasiuk was declared the winner, while Eduard Kyrylov secured second place. The athletes demonstrated not only a high level of technical skill but also strong concentration and psychological resilience.

American pool is a sport that, in addition to physical activity, requires strategic thinking, coordination, and self-discipline. For this reason, it is gaining popularity among veterans as a means of active recreation and psychological recovery.

At DSUIA, regular billiards training sessions are organized as part of a comprehensive rehabilitation and support program for the veteran community. Such activities promote active leisure, strengthen communication among fellow veterans, and create additional opportunities for social adaptation through sport.
