NEWS

Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs jointly with Dnipro City Center of Social Services conducted for cadets an interactive event with elements of training on the topic of mental health support.

The event was opened by the assistant to the rector of DSUIA on gender issues, Doctor of Law, Professor, Honored Lawyer of Ukraine Larysa Nalyvaiko.

The speakers of the event were: the head of the specialized service of primary socio-psychological counseling for persons who have suffered from domestic violence and/or gender-based violence of Dnipro City Center of Social Services Vita Volkova and the leading specialist in social work of the mobile brigade of socio-economic assistance to persons who have suffered from domestic violence and/or gender-based violence of Dnipro City Center of Social Services Maryna Serdiuk.

The event was aimed at familiarizing cadets with the concept of mental health, its key components and influencing factors. The participants determined their own strategies for caring for mental health, and also discussed the formation of a mentally and socially healthy personality taking into account potential risks.

In addition, interactive exercises were conducted, where cadets together with the speakers discussed the components of health, including mental health, as well as factors necessary for its maintenance in proper condition. Similar measures contribute to the formation in cadet youth of a responsible attitude to their own mental health, the development of skills of constructive response to stressful situations and the strengthening of psychological stability. This is especially important for future law enforcement officers, whose professional activity is often associated with increased emotional load and the need to make decisions in difficult conditions.
