Systematic table tennis training for military veterans is ongoing at the Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs. The classes are organized by the Department of Special Physical Training with the support of the university management.
Defenders who were injured while performing combat missions regularly join the training. Veterans improve their game technique, work on movement coordination and restore their physical form.

Table tennis is one of the most effective types of adaptive sports for military veterans. It develops accuracy, reaction speed, coordination and concentration of attention, while contributing to the improvement of the psycho-emotional state. Regular classes help reduce stress levels, counteract the manifestations of post-traumatic stress disorder, restore self-confidence and return to active life. In addition, training in the “equal to equal” format contributes to socialization, mutual support and the formation of a strong veteran community.
“For many veterans, table tennis has become not just physical activity, but an important tool for rehabilitation – both physical and psychological. Each training gives the opportunity to feel progress, overcome oneself and receive positive emotions,” the organizers note.

DSUIA will continue to create conditions for the development of adaptive sports and comprehensive support for military veterans, because sport is a powerful resource for recovery, strengthening health and returning to a full life.
