The event was conducted by the department of psychological support of Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs.
The leading psychologist Hanna Mhlynets emphasized that emotional intelligence is not just a personal quality, but an important professional competence: “Successful service in the police and gradual advancement up the career ladder are impossible without a deep understanding of one’s emotions and effective self-regulation. The ability to recognize one’s state in time allows making balanced decisions even in the most difficult situations,” noted the specialist.
During the class, the cadets learned to separate cold logic from subjective judgments during emotional experiences, to recognize their own true needs and to express feelings ecologically, preventing professional burnout.
The head of the department of psychological support Serhii Vyshnevskyi emphasized the importance of systematic support for applicants of higher education under conditions of increased load: “During the period of constant influence of stressful factors, the psychologists of DSUIA are always close to the cadets and police officers who are improving their qualifications on the basis of the university. Our main task is to provide effective instruments for maintaining mental health and forming the resilience necessary for the successful performance of official duties. Psychological support is close in any conditions.”
The format of open dialogue gave the cadets the opportunity to ask current questions, analyze life cases and receive practical advice from specialists. The systematic work of the department of psychological support of DSUIA contributes to the formation of resilient, self-sufficient and professionally ready for any challenges officers.
