Police officers improve the skills of forceful detention during practical classes at DSUIA

NEWS

Within the framework of the next class on professional development, employees of the National Police of Ukraine repeatedly practiced the techniques of forceful detention of offenders.

The class was organized by the Institute of Postgraduate Education and Distance Learning of Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs for police officers seconded to institutions of higher education belonging to the sphere of management of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The event was conducted by the department of special physical training. The participants focused on improving previously practiced detention techniques – “with a lock”, “with a jerk” and during the approach to the offender from behind. The repeated performance of technical elements gives the opportunity to consolidate the correct sequence of actions, increase the speed of reaction and bring practical skills to automatism.

Under the guidance of the senior lecturer of the department, police major Serhii Petrenko, the police officers also improved the application of blocks and painful techniques in the process of detention.

Regular practice of such techniques has important practical significance for police officers, because during the performance of official tasks it is necessary to quickly assess the situation, act confidently and control the offender in compliance with the established requirements for the application of police measures. The systematic repetition of techniques contributes to maintaining the proper level of physical and professional readiness of police officers.
